Thank you for a great season
Thank you everyone for a great 2011. Our second Hudson Crossing Triathlon was a success with 250 athletes and we’re looking forward to the 3rd installment of this event in 2012 at Hudson Crossing Park.
We had two new events this year: the Lake George Open Water Swim, which saw a 2.5k, 5k and 10k swim, and the Moreau Lake Aquathlon & Swims.
We will be looking to reprise the Wilton Mall Du and Zombie Du for 2012, since there was a lot of interest.
We’re grateful to all of our great volunteers, athletes, sponsors and crew that participated in each event. We hope you had a great season and continue to strive for your goals.
Moreau Lake Pre-Race Info
Hello swimmers & runners:
Thank you all for registering for the first Moreau Lake Aquathlon & Swims, taking place this Sunday and featuring a 1.5k swim, 3k swim and aquathlon (1.5k swim/5k run). There will also be a 15k trail run going off earlier in the morning. These events are low-key and a way for all of us to enjoy a late summer Sunday morning doing what we love! This is also the first time the park has been open to events of this kind and we’re grateful for the support of Moreau Lake State Park.
Below you’ll find a description of each of the swim events. Please plan to arrive 45 minutes or so before your event to check in, pick up your bib and/or swim cap and your timing chip. These events are sanctioned by USAT therefore you must show photo ID when you check in.
Water temp today was 68. This will warm up over the next couple days as the sun comes out again. We expect 70-72 on race day. Wetsuits are optional.
1.5K SWIM The 1.5k swim starts at 8 a.m. (please check in no later than 7:30 a.m.) The start will be in-water. You will swim counter-clockwise around a diamond-shaped course marked with four yellow buoys. Keep all buoys to your left, except for the last one, which you’ll keep to your right as you round it towards the finish chute. You’ll then run up on shore over the finish mat.
3K SWIM The 3k swim starts at 9 a.m. (check in no later than 8:30 a.m.). This swim will be two loops of the 1.5k course. You will swim counter-clockwise around a diamond-shaped course marked with yellow buoys. On your first loop, you will keep all buoys to your left. On the second loop, you will keep the last buoy to your right as you round it to swim towards the finish chute. You will then run up on shore over the finish mat.
AQUATHLON The aquathlon has a start time of 10 a.m., though that may be dependent on whether any 3k swimmers are still out on the course. Please check in by 9:15 a.m. After checking in you can head over to the transition area to place your shoes and clothes at your designated spot. The swim course is the same as the 1.5k course description above. When you come across the swim finish you will run into the transition area, put on your shoes, etc. and then run out of the transition area. The 5k course is clock-wise and features some challenging single-track trails.
MAPS Maps for the above are all available at www.greenleafracing.com.
WARM UP After checking in you may warm up in a designated area of the lake. We’ll let you know where when you arrive. We will have a pre-race meeting approximately 10 minutes before your event.
If you’re participating in multiple events, please go to the registration table after each event to collect a new chip, bib and/or swim cap. Your chips will be collected after you cross the finish of each event.
A reminder that there is a $6 entry fee for cars to enter the park. The park has full facilities available on site and if you stick around all morning, feel free to bring items to barbecue, as there are several thousand bbqs and picnic tables located right near the beach, along with some great play areas for the kids.
We have a great playlist of 80s music ready to go for the entire day.
Any updates before the event can be seen at http://www.facebook.com/greenleafracing.
We look forward to seeing you Sunday. As mentioned on our Web site we will have a boot from the South Glens Falls Fire Department on the beach for anyone who would like to make a donation.
Thank you!
